Dear Backers,
In the midst of delivering a product that will truly change the way we see our bedrooms, we have been constantly torn between the pursuit of perfection and the race to deliver the product as soon as possible. There are always new improvements possible that would make the product quieter, more efficient and seamless. We received a lot of feedback from you guys, many asking that we take the time to provide the best possible product, and at the same time we respect and understand those who would like to use this amazing product as soon as possible.
Our latest challenge has been choosing between keeping the wall mounted DC power supply or changing it to a straight 110/220v internal power supply. We made the difficult decision of going with an internal power supply, for the rare but possible scenario in which both users wished to heat their side of the bed at maximum heat, simultaneously. We had expected the electrical certification to be near completion at this time, but unfortunately this latest modification will delay electrical certification by a few weeks, postponing shipping to February. Rest assured that instead of delivering a beta version to our backers and then revamping the whole product for the retail market, we are fully committed to delivering a retail ready product with all the quality and refinement similar to those of well established electronics brands.
Regarding the Backerkit survey, we want to thank those who already answered the survey, however hundreds of surveys have yet to be returned. Please let us know if you have not received the survey or if you would like us to resend it to you. These surveys are crucial to confirm order size, need for extension and delivery address in order to organise fulfillment. We also included the home automation system vote in the survey which will help us define which home automation systems most of our backers are using. Dear Backers,
Please find below our latest update. After multiple tests and listening to your feedback, we decided to increase the size of the round openings from 3'' to 4.5'' to allow for better air circulation. We have also tested 3 brand new high tech fabrics recommended by our sourcing consultant for their higher compatibility with the manufacturing process and have chosen the lightest and strongest one.
To ensure redundancy in manufacturing and avoid depending on only one manufacturer we have sourced a total of three manufacturers. This will help increase the production capacity and meet the high volume of pledges received.

Although the rest of the electronic board design has been completed for several weeks, the integration of the new bluetooth/wifi chip took longer than expected. This has delayed electrical certification which will now be completed in the next few weeks. To speed up the certification process, we made sure to use as many pre-certified components as possible. We do not expect this to delay the shipping date by more than a few weeks which will bring the expected shipping date to early December.
This week, we will be sending the Backerkit survey, which will ask you to confirm these four important information:
1. Your delivery address:
2. Your order ( number of units and size )
3.The need for an extension (boxed bed or placement of the control box on the side of the bed)
4. Your home automation compatibility vote.

Update Part 2:
In terms of electronic, we have received many requests to make Smartduvet compatible with different home automation systems. We always envisioned how cool it would be to be able to say ''Alexa (or Siri), please make the bed!'' when leaving the house. This integration will take time as we need to integrate one system at the time. Instead of further delaying the release of the Smartduvet, these integrations will be done in future firmware updates. We decided to offer both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity using the ESP WROOM 32 chip.
This will allow you to use the Smartduvet through Bluetooth while we keep on working on a solid cloud based interface for most popular home automation system. If you wish to use your Smartduvet without wifi or internet, this chip will also allow you to do so.
The change in the Smartduvet design and electronic have affected the expected delivery dates which we now plan to start by November. Although, we are very eager to deliver all the Smartduvets to our backers, we realized that we needed to take a bit more time to make sure the product would exceed your expectations. It was a difficult decision to make these changes, but we think it will be beneficial on the long term for our backers and the product.
To help us with the fulfillment of the 4000+ pledges received, we will be using the services of the renowned fulfillment company BackerKit (https://www.backerkit.com). Their platform will help us assemble all the information needed to deliver the products to every backer efficiently and accurately. We will send a survey though the BackerKIT platform soon to confirm bed sizes and delivery addresses.
For those who need an extension hose because they don't have enough place under the bed to put the control box and want to put it next to the bed, we offer the extension for free. You simply need to send us your request by email at [email protected]. Also, feel free to share with us which home automation system you would like your Smartduvet to be compatible with and we will try to make it compatible with the most popular ones first.

Dear Backers,
We have a lot of news on the Smartduvet. This is part 1 of the update since we are limited by the amount of characters we can use in the same update.
We have tested and tested again the product in pre-production to make sure that it would pass the test of time as well as survive the roughest of usage. We primarily tested the original square openings with the mass production process and mistreated them by inflating them excessively and repeatedly. As the corners of the squares were the first to give, we decided to test different shapes to see which one would work best on the long run. After testing a few shapes, the one that came back with the best results was the round shape. The round openings redistribute the forces equally across the hole resulting in a much more resistant and durable design.
With these results in hand, we decided to modify the Smartduvet design with 3 inches round openings instead of the original square ones.
We have also looked for higher quality ways to fuse the layers together. After testing most fabric welding and sewing process we decided to go with a process called high frequency welding. This process fuses the fabrics together using high frequency waves and provides an incredibly more consistent and stronger bond. We are thrilled with the new design and we think it could even be aesthetically more pleasing than the initial one.

Dear backers,
The Smartduvet Breeze campaign was a great success thanks to all of you.
With the incredible amount of pre-orders ( 3000+ units ) we received, we are now able to invest in higher end materials for both the layer and the control box which will make the Smartduvet even better.

Our team is finalizing the coding of the firmware which will allow secure and easy communication between the app and the Smartduvet control box. We are also building a new cloud based server which will allow users to remotely operate the Smartduvet easily and securely from anywhere using their home WiFi network.This feature will give users the ability to remotely make, pre-heat or refresh their bed.
In addition, we are working hard to make the Smartduvet compatible with most popular home automation kits, allowing the user to control Smartduvet using voice command on different platforms.
Last week we launched the production of the electronic boards that will control the different component of the Smartduvet.

We received a lot of questions regarding the extension. If you have a solid base bed and would like to place the control box on the side of the bed, please send us an email to [email protected] with your name and order number and we will include an extension to your order.
Shipping is expected to begin by the end of September. We will notify you directly by email prior to shipping to confirm your address.
