Dear Backers,

Please find below our latest update.

We are receiving good feedback from backers on a daily basis and are working hard on quickly implementing most of your great suggestions. With summer approaching we will offer an even cooler mode with more airflow on the coolest setting. This option will be available by the end of next week via firmware update. You won't notice any graphic difference in the user interface of the app but the highest settings on cool mode will have 25% more airflow. We also received suggestions for a timer to run the unit for a certain time and then automatically shut it off. We are working on two of these options right now. The first one will have a regular timer that will shut off the unit at a specific time. The second will have an option to change the temperature during the night after a certain amount of time. For exemple you will be able to start the night warm and then get it cooler few hours later for the rest of the night. Both these options will be available in the following firmware updates.

Most users who received their unit have completed the firmware updates with great success by following the instructions on the app. We do have some users that inadvertently powered off their units or got disconnected while the firmware was loading on the Smartduvet. This can cause some of the units to loose the firmware, fortunately we installed a built-in safety firmware programmed on each box to remedy that. To prevent having to go through the troubleshooting, we kindly ask users to follow the app instructions carefully and wait till the app confirms that the firmware has fully updated before powering off the unit or disconnecting the phone. We will also change the firmware installation lighting sequence (blue/green) as this can confuse some users in thinking the installation is complete.

Our Asian assembly line is almost ready. We are expecting our first fully assembled units from this production line in the next two weeks. Once the new units are tested we will finally be able to greatly increase production and quickly catch up on fulfillment. We are currently shipping units under contribution number 3000. Units under number 3500 will start shipping in 14 days. We are starting to ship units over 3500 by early July. The units for the 220/230/240 volts countries will also start shipping in the next 14 days as well, production on this version was slower as some components had to be custom made. We are sorry for these delays and are pushing hard to finally get our new production line completed as we know this will finally relieve the fulfillment backlog.

On the Home Automation beta version, we made a lot of progress and the first beta version release is imminent. A lot of backers told us about their already great home automation systems and we think the Smartduvet will be a great addition to your Smart homes. Simply contact us if you wish to be a beta tester for the Home automation version and we will be happy to add you to the list.

As mentioned in our previous update, for those who didn't receive their tracking number you can request last minute changes to your Smartduvet size and/or shipping address. Dear Backers, please find below our latest update. We are shipping units on a daily basis and receiving great feedback from users. A lot of you have suggested additional features and we are happy to say that we will be implementing the best ones in our next firmware update. We are preparing our first major firmware update that will include an adjustment of the heating feature to vary according to room temperature using our control box temperature sensor. We will also be reducing fan speed for the max hot and cold positions.

We have been trying hard to ramp up our production to meet our schedule but we unfortunately encountered some delays. The firmware installed on the units produced was not the latest one, this was not ideal as it could potentially prevent us from adding great features in future firmware updates. We therefore had to manually open and reinstall the firmware individually on each box. This process slowed us down but also allows us to do a thorough quality control of each unit before shipping to make sure they meet our high quality standards.

Our Asian production line is harder to set-up than we had originally anticipated mainly due to remote quality control challenges. By doing quality control on each unit, it allowed us to put in place a really strict process for our second production line. Due to these extra steps we need to adjust our shipping projections accordingly. We are starting to ship units under number 2500 next week and should start shipping units under 3000 in the next 3 weeks. Units over number 3000 will start shipping in early June at a rate of 500 a week or quicker as our new Asian production line should be fully operational by then and will easily be able to produce thousands of units per month. We are sorry for these shipping delays and we wish we could find an easier and faster way to overcome these challenges but we realize that this takes time and we can’t allow quality to be compromised as it would create further delays down the road.

We will also be receiving our first King Cal units in the next 2-3 weeks and will begin delivery of this size for contribution under 2000.

We know that all backers are eager to receive their units quickly. Our only focus is to increase production and shipping rate and we are doing everything possible to achieve this. We thank you for your patience and support and hope you will appreciate the quality and effort that was put in this new product.

We have started the selection process of our beta testers to test the new home automation software and still have some spots available if you are interested to be part of the testing process. Simply contact us and we will be happy to add you to the list.

Dear backers, 

Please find below our latest update. We have just received our lastest shipment from Asia last week. We are currently doing a quick quality control on the units received. The container shipment took a few weeks longer than expected to get here, but we continued shipping units on a weekly basis in the meantime. We are currently shipping units under contribution number 2000 and will be able to greatly increase the shipping rate over the next weeks now that we received our shipment.

We continue to receive great feedback from backers who received their units. Some users encountered some compatibility issues with Android 8 and 9 but our development team resolved the issue and all android versions are now fully functional. We thank the backers who took the time to help us troubleshoot this connectivity issue. 

We have confirmed that the firmware is stable and that the firmware updates are consistently successful. The new firmware update with Wifi and Home Automation is in its final stages and will be released for testing very soon. We ask for those of you who wish to help us test these new function to contact us by email and let us know. When these latest features are ready we will contact you and ask for your feedback.

We are eagerly waiting for our second production line in Asia to be operational to further increase the shipping rate. We are expecting our first units out of our second line shortly.

We are currently shipping units under contribution number 2000, if you are in that segment and didn't receive your shipping notification yet, you should receive it within 14 days. We will start shipping units under number 3000 in the next 20 days and should have shipped all units under 4000 by end of April. We should also receive our first shipment from our second production line by end of April, which will be enough to cover the units of all our backers (number 4000 and up).

We know that all backers are eager to receive their units quickly. Our only focus is to increase production and shipping rate and we are doing everything possible to achieve this. We thank you for your patience and support and hope you will all appreciate the quality and effort that was put in this new innovative product. 

For fulfillment, if you want to verify or make a last minute change to the Smartduvet size or shipping address, we are able to accommodate you, let us know as soon as possible and we will resend you the fulfillment survey to allow you to make the necessary modifications. Just a quick note to all those waiting for their Smartduvet. I received mine about 2 weeks ago. 

It is worth the wait, amazing bedding. I kinda think it is like a heavy blanket without all the heat. 

I really enjoy the comfortable sleep. I don’t kick the covers off or wish I had more heat. 

Hope you all enjoy yours as much as I do.

We are very happy that our attention to detail is appreciated, we can't thank you enough for these messages. 

 

We've been very busy these last weeks, we are currently shipping King size units under contribution number 1000. We were able to ship a full container from Asia before the Chinese new year holidays started, it is currently on the way and will arrive at the fulfillment center in the next 3 weeks. Now that the Chinese new year is over, factories are resuming their normal operations. We will start shipping units to backers between contribution number 1000 to 4000 in the next 4 weeks, number 4000 and above should receive their shipping notification by end of March. We are still waiting for our King Cal and Double size batch to arrive, we would start shipping these as soon as they are received.

Our manufacturing plant has been upgraded with new machinery that allows an increase in production of the Smart layer.

Quality control testing on site

We will be publishing new Android and iOS apps in the coming days, these will now include a simplified firmware update process. The previous version only showed download progress and not the installation phase causing some users to mistakenly close the unit during the installation of the firmware. The new percentage progress bar will now include both download and installation process.

We are also increasing the size of our technical support department to assist users with their questions. The support team will also document all technical details for our dev team to make any adjustments needed.

 

Some backers have requested last minute changes to their Smartduvet size and shipping address, we have been able to accommodate them but if you plan on changing your bedding size or you have done it already do not hesitated to let us know as soon as possible and we will resend you the fulfillment survey. Dear Backers,

Please find below our latest update.

We are currently shipping King size and Queen size units under contribution number 500, our delivery schedule slowed down during the holidays but we are catching up quickly. We are expecting our batch of King Cal / Double and Single size layers shortly. Our only focus now is on shipping more units faster. We currently have thousands of layers produced and kilometers of tubing ready for final assembly but we were not satisfied with the production lead time of the control box. We spent the holidays opening a second assembly line to increase production to get all units out as fast as possible. Once this production line is fully setup, we expect to produce 5000 units per month. The next batch of 1000 units would ship in the next 4 weeks. Based on the information provided by the manufacturer, we estimate that 4000 units will be shipped by end of February and all by March. Next week we will be visiting the assembly line as well as the layer manufacturing plant to streamline production even more with the experience gained these last months.

On the technical side, the firmware update process is working beautifully, we are already working on the next features like a gentle air and lighting alarm clock for those who want a smoother way to wake up.

We made modifications to certain settings based on feedback received from users, these modifications are included in the next firmware update. We are very happy with the final product and the high quality we were able to achieve thanks to your support and patience. We are continuing to work hard on increasing production capacity and making sure the supply chain is well oiled.

We are staying on Apple TestFlight at the moment since it allows us to make many app updates without having to resubmit the app to Apple every time.
