Dear Backers,
Please find below our latest update. The Smartduvet production is accelerating every day. We produced two thousand smart layers in November and are increasing production for this month to 3000 more. Please find below pictures and a video of our smart layer production.
Due to an unexpected national labor strike at Canada Post we experienced heavy delays in getting our November units from Asia to Canada for quality control and shipping. The strike, which lasted for almost a month finally came to an end last Tuesday. Postal services will resume back to normal in the coming days. Due to this, we are adjusting the shipping projection to 500 units by end of December, an additional 1500 by mid January and an additional 1500 by end of January, the remaining units shipped for mid February.
In the mean time we have been receiving great feedback from our first users. Please find below a full unboxing and installation video made following our instruction manual. This video will probably help you with your first Smartduvet installation.
For those who will receive their units in the next days and weeks please send us your feedback to [email protected] as it is crucial for us to continuously improve the user experience with the current and future features. Thanks to the previous modifications made on the hardware, we have the ability to do firmware upgrades through the app even if the units have been shipped.
Regarding the surveys, we have been gradually locking them in the last days so this would be your last chance to inform us if you want to verify your order size and to make sure the shipping address on your survey is still valid and has no mistake.
Our app will still be available on TestFlight as we keep refining the user interface based on feedback we are receiving. This does not impact the backers that will be receiving their Smartduvet in the next days and weeks as they will be able to fully use their device using the Smartduvet app through TestFlight. Android users can still get the app simply by downloading the latest Android version with the following link: Smartduvet App (You can try the Android app now). To have the iOS app for the first time, please send us your Apple ID and we will send you an App invite through Testflight.

Dear Backers,
Please find below our latest update. After months of hard work we are very happy to announce that we have officially started shipping our first units. As planned, we will gradually scale up fulfillment and will ship more and more units as we confirm that no issue arise and that our backers are able to make firmware updates using different phones and operating systems.
After ironing out all of the last minute issues faced in the past few months, we are proud to deliver a product that offers the quality and reliability that meets the highest standards.
As you can see in the pictures below the ambient lighting is now brighter and more vivid with the addition of higher quality LEDs.
We are also working on developing a gradual light based alarm clock that will help you wake up in the morning. This feature and many others will be available in future firmware updates.
Our apps will be submitted to both Apple and Android app stores for review. We expect them to show up in the app stores in the next few days once the process is completed. In the mean time, backers that will be receiving their Smartduvet will be able to fully use their device using the app in TestFlight as well as by downloading the latest Android version with the following link: Smartduvet App (You can try the Android app now). To try the iOS app, please send us your Apple ID and we will send you an App invite through Testflight.
The estimated shipping schedule will go from a dozen last week to a few hundreds in the upcoming weeks scaling up to thousands a month by December.
We will lock the fulfillment surveys in the coming week as we have now received most of them. Feel free to contact us if you want us to resend you the survey for verification or any last minute change to the order size or the addition of the air extension.

Dear Backers, Please find below our latest update. After weeks of review, we are happy to confirm that the new boards have now been thoroughly tested and that we are proceeding with production. As some of you may know, while working on the integration of the latest firmware, we found out that the last library update from our chip manufacturer ST contained major changes that required us to rewrite our firmware to ensure it would still allow future firmware updates by WiFi. This is particularly important since we have tons of great features we want to implement in the future including the very important home automation compatibility with our survey’s winner Amazon Echo (Alexa), others will follow in the order based on your votes. We haven’t been lucky last week as communications with many of our suppliers in South Asia have been affected by a major typhoon. Manufacturing will resume in the next few days as things settle down over there. In the meantime we have been testing the product which now has many weeks of testing behind it.

Ambient lighting can be dimmed down or switched off at any time.
The first units are expected to ship in the next three weeks, we will rely on your feedback during fulfillment as we gradually scale up production and increase shipping during the following weeks. As we feel the pressure to deliver quickly, we are also very dedicated on shipping a quality product and ensure that it is issue free and fully updatable once shipped.
We are receiving a great amount of feedback on every app update and we thank you very much as this has improved the user experience greatly.

We have received a large percentage of the fulfillment surveys so far but hundreds have yet to be completed. Please note that orders without completed surveys will have to be processed after the ones from which we received the survey as we need to lock the information for fulfillment. For those of you who will be moving soon or have moved already, you can still update the survey yourself or reach out to us and we will be happy to assist you with it.

Dear backers,
Please find below our latest update. We have been waiting for weeks for our first units to show up from Asia and they have just been delivered. We first received the Smartduvet layers last week and we are happy to see that the quality is meeting our expectations. Unfortunately the first batch of electronic boards had a manufacturing defect not related to our design and out of our control. The manufacturer is already making a new batch of electronic boards and we will be able to test more of them in the upcoming days. So far the first ones we received from the new batch have passed all of our tests. This board issue cascaded into a delay in the assembly line as we are now waiting for these to get assembled, tested and installed in the control boxes. Shipping will begin as soon as we get the final boards installed which should be by mid September.
We are disappointed with these last minute issues as we have been working very hard these past months and really thought the first units would be out by now.
In the meantime, the rest of the manufacturing process is still going strong as we are making more layers, casings and air connectors in preparation for the final assembly with the new boards.
We also made a quick installation video that will help you set up your Smartduvet when you receive it.
As you will see in the installation video, we perfected our new clips with a secure lock system allowing all types of bedding to work seamlessly with our layer. Star shaped holes were also added to all four corners of the layer to better secure it to the duvet and keep it from moving inside your duvet cover.

Dear Backers,
Finally, this looks like it will be our last pre-shipping update. We are very excited to announce that the first units should be out of manufacturing and ready to ship in the next two to three weeks. We have encountered many last minute obstacles but so far we were able to overcome all of them. We thank you for your feedback on the Smartduvet App and we already incorporated some of the changes you have suggested. We also thank you for all the compliments we received on the app's design.
You can find below the latest modifications made to the Ambient lighting section of the app. We removed the saturation slider and included it within the color wheel to make it more intuitive to choose your preferred color. We also switched the bed and color wheel's position to allow better visibility of the bed while using the color wheel.
We are happy to share our revised app with you right now. Please find below the instruction to download the App. For iOS users who already tried it, we now have the updated version on TestFlight so next time you try the app the updated version should be there. If you haven’t requested your iOS App invite yet you can still do so by sending us your Apple ID.

We are currently in full production of the Smart layer, you can find below some production videos and pictures from manufacturing.
The Smartduvet is inflated when the Self Making bed feature is activated, the layer is not inflated when the temperature control feature is activated.
You will also find below the packaging box with the Smartduvet kit components with the protection foam.
We are still not out of the woods yet and we are working hard to make sure everything comes along as planned. We are carefully controlling the quality of every components while we are gradually increasing production.
